College tuition fees are increasing faster than the rise of cost of living in most areas, and the financial aid available from traditional sources such as federal government and the schools are rapidly being cut back. For many students thinking about college -winning a scholarship the only way for college and graduate students to be able to afford college. If you are going to get a grant or scholarship fund your college, you are going to have to take the initiative to locate scholarships or grants that you can qualify for. Here are some tips for your search:

1. Start Your Scholarship or Grant Search As Early As Possible
Although each scholarship program has it s own deadline – most scholarships programs are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. This means that many grants and scholarships will not be able to fund all applications they may receive. You should start your search for college scholarships during your sophomore or junior year of high school – it s never to early to start the search!

2. Make Use Of Professional Scholarship & Grant Search Services
There are literally thousands of scholarships that go unclaimed every year, simply for lack of qualified applicants. The reason is that there are many obscure and little publicized private scholarships and grants that simply do not receive finding requests from qualified applicants every term. It s almost impossible to find these by yourself – a qualified professional scholarship or grants database can help you locate these programs and determine whether or not you qualify.

Please takes note that no one scholarship database contain a complete list of scholarship programs, you should take time to search as many of them as possible. Of course you may come up with some duplicates, but it’s better than you miss out any good scholarships programs.

3. Look for Financial Aids Page of College’s Website
College websites are after gold mines of scholarship information, if you know where to look for. First, look at the admission page as it will contain a list of merit scholarships. Review the listed scholarships to see whether the scholarship programs apply for your field of study. Then, check the details at the college’s Financial Aids page for details application requirement. If you are a graduate student, you should at the graduate section of the site, which often lists university-sponsored fellowships and fellowships from external sources. Besides, you should write down the contact information for further enquiries.

4. Search for Specific Scholarships Using Search Engines
In order to use search engines, such as MSN, Yahoo or Google, to locate the best scholarship programs, narrow your search by using precise keywords. For example, if you are looking for surgical nursing scholarships, then search with the keyword term “surgical nursing scholarship” for more targeted results.

5. Utilize The School s Own Resources
If you know what school you would like to attend, then use the school s own resources in addition to the ones suggested above. Every college has a financial aid office, and should be able to refer you to several resources, although bear in mind – these tend to be just the better known ones, and may often tend towards loans rather than scholarships and grants.

Minority-owned businesses grew more than four times as fast as U.S. firms overall, according to a report recently released by the Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce. Since 1992, minority owned businesses have increased from 2.1 million to almost 2.8 million firms.

A major factor in this growth growth is because the government is making more minority grant money available to small businesses owned by minorities.

Minority grant money is funding given to qualified individuals or business entities belonging to a minority. These funds may be used for many purposes: fostering minority education, benefiting a community where the majority of the population is composed of minorities, and generally facilitating development of minorities in business and community.

Minority grant money may awarded for projects, research, scholarships, or seed money. In general, grantors want to fund new, creative and innovative programs that have a specific goal, and broad reaching effects.

If you feel that your idea is not innovative enough, there is still hope for minority grant money for your project. There are instances where minority grant money is used to fund programs that have already been implemented. The only criteria, usually, is that the previous programs similar to yours have been successful.

Annually, minority grant money is allocated by the United States Congress federal budget process. Ultimately, it is Congress that makes the decision as to how much minority grant money goes to which agency, and the criteria for awarding grants to minority projects or businesses.

Once these federal budgets are approved, minority grant money are made available and made known to the public in the Federal Register. Minority grant money for the projects will be listed in the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) at CFDA.gov.

Currently, the CFDA website offers several programs for minority grant money, such as the Minority Business Opportunity Committee (MBOC). The minority grant money is intended to not only aid in increasing minority opportunities but to also strengthen existing minority owned businesses.
It is run by the Minority Business Development Agency under the Department of Commerce.
Applications eligible for this minority grant money program are Federal, State or local government entities or quasi governmental entities, American Indian Tribes, colleges, universities, nonprofit organizations, and for project organizations.

Competitive awards for the MBOC minority grant money are determined by a panel evaluation of the applications, and includes such criteria as capability and experience of staff assigned to the project; techniques and methodology, creativity and innovation, resources and costs. Competitive applications are normally sought every three years, upon availability of funds and depending on the Agency’s priorities.

So, the question [...]

Health care continues to be one of the career areas where professionals are still in demand and nursing is about as recession-proof a career as you will ever find, especially with the ‘graying’ population at an all time high. as the number of people who get sick doesn’t decrease when times are bad.

So, the question is – how do you find scholarships for nursing school?

Nursing programs at community colleges and state sponsored four year schools are in heavy demand and that means that even many qualified students are actually being rejected and end up turning to the very expensive private schools and training programs.

it’s also important to note that nursing school has more expenses associated with it than getting your degree in business, for example: you need to purchase the required uniforms for your clinicals, you are required to carry malpractice insurance, you need reliable transportation between the school and the hospital site, and you are required to have extra immunizations

The first step, even before applying for admission, will be to contact your chosen school to determine what kind of aid package might be available for you. In most cases, this will be a combination of scholarships, grants, work study and loans. At most of the ‘for-profit’ nursing schools, your financial package will be comprised mostly of loans, as very few of these schools offer scholarships for nursing school.

If you are planning to get a four year Bachelor of Science of Nursing with a RN, you may qualify for a military nursing scholarship. When you graduate, you will be commissioned into a branch of the military as an officer, but these scholarships cover all expenses, including your tuition and books, and provide a small living stipend as well.

For example, with the Air Force nursing scholarship program, all students who meet the minimum qualifications get the award – there is no further selection process. In most cases, students will have an eight year commitment to the military, three of which must be active duty.

The sponsored ladder is another possibility for a nursing scholarship: a hospital will pay for your first year of school to become a practical or vocational nurse. In exchange, you commit to work for the hospital for two or three years following graduation. You draw a full salary once you get started working.

But the best part of this arrangement is that the organization will pay for your part time studies toward a Registered Nursing (RN) degree during your employment commitment. In this way, you have your tuition paid for and, after the first year, you earn while you learn.

If you are considering majoring in nursing, you should take advantage of a free online scholarship database that will let you search nationwide nursing scholarship opportunities.

* Creative needs assessment mechanisms
* Innovative uses of technology
* Unique approaches to specific subject matters
* Novel presentation techniques
* Utilization of existing educational paradigms in new environments

Continuing medical education grant applications and proposals will be kept confidential and reviewed by an appointed committee of the AAD’s Council of Education. The committee will then form a recommendation for final approval by the AAD’s Board of Directors.

Gene.com

As if completing your scholarship application was not difficult enough – now you need to ask your teachers for letters of recommendation. Ouch! Not only is this usually an uncomfortable thing for most students to do….they also tend to put it off until the last minute. Not good – it puts you and your teachers in a very bad situation. Here’s some tips to make sure you get the letters you need – when you need them!

1) Ask for your recommendation letters at least six weeks in advance. Your teachers are busy – and this gives them the time to really write the letter that they want to write and that you need for them to write!

2) Make your request in writing and deliver it in person. If you need something special emphasized in the letter, let them know at this time.

3) Follow up: Two weeks after your request, remind them with a note in their mailboxes, and then 7 days after that, make a visit to their classroom. Remind them in person that your deadline is approaching, and that you will come by in a few days to pick it up. Thank him or her again for their effort.

4) Stop by a few days later – just poke your head in and ask when you can come by and pick up your letter. Get a commitment at this point!

5) Ask for more letters than you really think you need. (awards may vary in the number of letters needed). If you think you need two – ask for letters from 4 people.

6) If you are applying for several scholarship awards ask your teacher or whoever, if they could put their letter on a CD, so that you can print out the letters and bring them back for their signature.

7) Who to ask for a recommendation letter? Obviously, an instructor in a topic that relates to the scholarship you are applying for is important – if you are applying for an art scholarship, then your art instructor s recommendation is very important! But, other letters can be from teachers in unrelated classes, as most scholarship funders look for well-rounded students to make the awards to.

Use your high school letterhead, when possible.

In some cases, the college may have decided to specialize in a particular art, such as theater or dance, and has created a special fund to attract the best students in the discipline. While many of these scholarships are funded directly by the colleges, you will also find that many are funded by the school’s own Alumni groups.

To find out more about these artistic scholarships, contact the school’s admissions department as well as the chair of the department you are interested in. You should also ask for the contact details of the professors in your area of the arts and try to schedule an appointment with each of them.

The reason for this is that it helps to have as many people as possible on your side when you are trying to get an institutional arts scholarship! Be sure to send a personalized thank you note after you meet with each professor. Be sure to bring with you any news clippings or information about your artistic endeavors.

If you want to have a good chance at getting a college scholarship for artistic purposes, letting the department and the admissions committee know that you are serious about pursuing art at their school is very important!

Art scholarships are also available that are not restricted to specific schools: Young Arts awards 20 scholarships of up to $10,000 each year to students in creative writing, dance, theater, instrumental music, and vocal music, while the Scholastic Art Awards, students compete for recognition and scholarship money in the fields of painting, sculpture, new media, and more.

WorldStudio Foundation Scholarships are open to students pursuing a degree in studio arts, commercial art, or architecture and the Jazz Performance Awards give up to $2000 for students who demonstrate unusual skill in Jazz performance.

There are so many different scholarships available in the Arts endeavors, that it is impossible to cover them all here, and chances are that your high school guidance counsellor does not have the time or the resources to provide you with a comprehensive list. This is an area where a good scholarship or grant service is extremely helpful. This will allow you to find artistic scholarships being offered throughout the country for students who excel in dance, theater, music, or visual arts, or in the areas of painting, pottery and crafts, etc.

The money is to be awarded in the form of gifts, loans, grants and scholarships, all based on a student’s qualifications and/or need.

However, of the various types of student funding aid available from the United States Federal Government, the preferred choice is grants, by both both students and parents alike, mainly because grant money for college, unlike a student loan, doesn’t have to be paid back. It is based solely on need, calculated by putting your financial data through a formula, which includes your income and various expenses. This is then used to determine your award. To apply for free grant money for college, you will need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The quickest way to do that is to apply online at FAFSA.ed.gov.

You can also complete the CSS Profile Application. The Profile is a must if you are an incoming freshman, since most colleges require this form in addition to the FAFSA to determine if you qualify for free grant money for college.

Your CSS Profile and your FAFSA data are then used to calculate the total amount of free grant money for college you are eligible to receive. Here’s how:

When you apply for the FAFSA free grant money for college, you will be asked to submit several documents; the data received become the basis of your EFC.

On the FAFSA form, there is a place called the CPS or the Central Processing System. A formula, called Federal Methodology, will be used by the Dept of Education, which administers FAFSA, to determine your eligibility (EFC)

Knowing your EFC is very important in applying for free grant money for college – this is a key factor is determining your need, since the EFC is what the government says the amount is you should be able to pay toward your own education based on your state of residence, household size, number in college and student and parent income and other asset information.

In addition to the EFC is the COA or Cost of Attendance. This school you are planning to attend establishes this figure- it is composed of tuition, room and board, fees and other estimated miscellaneous expenses, such as books, supplies, personal, etc.

Your financial need is calculated by subtracting the EFC from the COA to determine if you qualify for free grant money for college. The formula is the standard guideline in determining how much need-based financial aid you may receive from the government.

The equation, simplified, looks like this:

COA – EFC = Financial Need

Once the ‘need’ is determined, the school financial aid office should then use their various’need-based’ resources to try and meet your financial needs for college.

Unlike most athletic scholarship guides – this one is based on interviews with the people that make the decisions on who gets the scholarships – the coaches themselves.
I knew right off the bat (sorry for the pun!) that this was going to be a different kind of guide, because Reidling suggests that you start the athletic scholarship search as early as your freshman year – and I know from personal experience that this is the truth!

Unfortunately, few people tell you this!

This is really an excellent well written and affordable guide to going after a baseball scholarship – but the core principles can be applied to virtually any sport.

Here’s what you are going to get in this guide:?

Step-by-Step, Exactly How to Find the Right College Baseball Program that matches your unique athletic and academic abilities

A Fool Proof Profile Development System Learn how to create your custom Player Profile that will have your mail box stuffed with offers from the schools you want to attend!
Learn the Difference Between Creating a Player Web Page and creating A Player Marketing Machine – this tip alone could be the difference between landing your scholarship – or striking out!

A List of Killer Tools That You Can Easily Customize To Make The Best… Most Personalized Impression

This is a unique information packed guide in a genre that is loaded with garbage.
This one is a real keeper – and a price that anyone can afford!

If you really want to go after grants, especially for business and be successful – you need to have the FULL package together – and that is a lot more than just filling out the grant application. It also means putting together a business plan, finding the right grant funder, getting the right supporting paperwork together and making sure that all of the myriad details are put together in the best way to increase your chances of success.

Ideally, you would hire a professional grant writer to do this for you – but most people looking for grants for their business or education don’t usually have a spare $3500 to $5000 to hire this kind of professional help.

That’s where the National Grant Secrets ‘Grant Robot’ comes in! It’s a slick little software program that walks you through the whole process, helps you put together your business plan, all the paperwork you need to complete the package, the programs you qualify for, and the right application.

The interactive database contains all types of grants: business, nonprofit, research, educational, housing. The software can be used on Mac or PC, and will take you through the whole process from search to completing your grant package to submission!

It’s a brand new system, just released, and I think it is going to catch on like wild fire! Backed by ClickBank’s full guarantee policy – you really cannot go wrong with this one as your ‘personal assistant’ in your grant search!

In my book – this is the real deal – a very small investment with a huge potential return!

Government grant money – does such a thing really exist? You’ve seen the ads, offering free government grants with no strings attached! The answer is yes, it does indeed exist, but you have to be careful what you mean by ‘grant money’.

Contrary to what people and the ads may say, the U.S. Government does not ‘give away’ free grant money to just anyone for any use. A government grant money is not a present, nor a gift with no strings or expectations attached.

“A grant is a form of gift that entails certain obligations on the part of the grantee and expectations on the part of the grantor,” explains Jay M. Shafritz, author of the book American Government and Politics.

Unfortunately, many people have been led to believe that the government is just giving away free money to anyone who applies for it, and for just about any use. The truth is that government grant money is really not available to just anyone, and most often, grants are awarded to groups or organizations whose projects or research will be ofbenefit to the community or general public.

For instance, government grant money may be awarded to a civic group who is planning to finish any of the following projects:

* A neighborhood sidewalk construction project
* A community program to re-train displaced workers
* A city project to attract new companies to a rehabbed downtown area

As you can see, these projects are basically community-oriented, and is a good overview of what government grant money is usually for – a ‘good cause’. So all these ads you read or see telling you that government is giving away free grant money to help you with debt consolidation or start up your small business may not be all together true UNLESS – you can find a way to use your business idea to further a current local community project or perhaps provide needed services in your community, such as child or elder care.
